It's great to have a long-term project that doesn't provide instant gratification. It's interesting and fun. My wife is a first grade teacher. She and her class were thrilled with this product as it was used during their section on insects and butterflies. They placed caterpillars inside and let them crystallize and transform into butterflies. The product worked great! We bought this for our 8 yr. old granddaughter and it ended up being a whole family educational experience. All the butterflies hatched and she informed me this morning that she has 1 male and the rest are females. She was SO excited. customer 's review (vaction treat) (A Fun Panda) (Webkinz) (Absolutely adorable) (cutie panda) Even though I live in Vermont,I got this from Boston Masachusets.On my second day. It was the animal I was doing my report on. I love it! It has great learing beacause of Quizzy's.It's fun beacause of games. It can also be fashionable! Great item! Eclipse (my panda's name) is very soft and very cute. The only thing I have against it is the big stomach which I often refer to as: jelly belly. It would also be better if it was on 4 feet like the other bears. But other than that, I am very happy with the product. It is cute, soft and well made. What else can you ask for from a toy? This toy is awsome my kid really injoy it specially getting points by way of solving some problem. I encourage my kids to go to Math&Science to get their points. For me it is very educational at the same time your playing with it. Good job Webkinz is one awesome invention... and yes, they are educational, they have quizes based on each of the 4 core subjects (language, math, science,&social studies) catagorized by age groups, they teach responsibility (on a small scale) because you have to take care of them (feed, clothe, keep them healthy), it teaches about money because you have to earn&spend "kinz cash". customer 's review (Bright and colorful.) (Fantastic product!) (colorful) (Good Learning Tool) This blanket is nice and bright and plays quite a few different songs. I did find like other reviewers that some of the buttons were not aligned properly. Most of them I could scoot into place but there was one that didn't want to move. The blanket is 29" x 29" so it's not as small as I was afraid it would be from other reviews. The baby liked looking at all the colors and as she gets older I think she'll like pushing on the different spots and getting it to play music. For the cheap price it was definitely worth it. This was a great hit! Once we figured out how to get it to work, it was fantastic. I loved the way it did numbers when they were pressed upon, and saying the alphabet. I also liked the fact it was soft and the way it's designed gives you plenty of different things to work on learning. Negative is it's not loud enough, and the pressure points and the letters/numbers didn't align. It is also smaller than it appears in the picture. i think this is an educational toy but my baby didn't like to play with it, he's 1 yr old, he seems scared of the pictures. i liked it because of it being colorful, but when my baby steps on it, he ignores it. also, the placing of some of the pictures and the buttons are not aligned. customer 's review (Family Fun for All Ages) (this game is a Must Have!!) (fun for all ages) (Great fun for the entire family) (LOVE IT) My family loves this game! We have played it many times with our children and with other adults. It is very easy to learn. My 8 year old son does well, and my 6 year old daughter does fairly well with it (although I think she places pieces randomly instead of planning her strategy). Even with different skill levels you can have a lot of fun. I like the fact that Blokus is entertaining while being educational and exercising your mind in a creative way. This game is so much fun! It only takes a minute to learn, yet every game is different. It quickly became a favorite for many I know where we each own this game and various versions. Blokus is easy enough for a 5 year old and challenging enough for adult gameplay. This game can be enjoyed by the whole family. You do not have to be able to read to play. It is good for challenging creativity. We have had alot of fun with this game. My 10-year-old son asked for this for his birthday. He wanted to play with it immediately, so in order to pacify him, a few of us adults agreed to play with him. It didn't take long for us to see that this was not just a children's game. We soon had other family members looking over our shoulders, giving suggestions and patiently waiting for their turn to play. The only person who had difficulty with the game was a relative who is red-green color blind. He is able to see slight variations to adequately play other games with colored tokens, but because this game requires frequent visual scanning of the array of colors, it was too much of an effort for him to enjoy the game like the rest of us. Another word of caution is to keep track of all of the pieces (a feat for my family of 3 children). My sister suggested tracing or photocopying the pieces to use as extras when we undoubtedly lose the plastic pieces in the future! My family and I bought the full size game a few years ago and love it. This travel version is so much fun because it is only for two players. Its small enough to pack and fun fun fun. I would recommend this game as one of the top played games in my family. The four year old plays as well! Grades K and up. Europe's 2003 game of the year! customer 's review (Kids LOVE this toy!) (The perfect game) (Fabulous excercise for the kids!) (Fantastic idea and great fun at age 6 or 60) (Great toy for EVERYONE!) I just bought hyper dash for my 5 year old daughter. It's finally getting nice outside and I figured it would be fun for her to run around on our lawn with this. I have twin boys who will be three in two months. For one of the twins, he had a hard time with this game, but that's because he doesn't know his colors. The other twin ran around and played really well with my 5 year old. Some of the math questions were a bit difficult for them, so I helped them out. The other thing is that once in a while, if people are talking, I miss what the command is. But all in all, it was a GREAT way to get my kids (and me!) running around. So it's educational and great excercise!!! We gave this to our 8-year-old daughter for her birthday and within minutes her and her friends were having a blast! It is very easy to set up, and many different "levels" so it has a lot of play value. We even took it with us on our Disney World trip, where our two daughters (the other is 6) played it every night at our resort. Adults can play too! This is a great fun game for kids of almost all ages!! It gets them up and burning energy!! We tried this the other day and it was so much fun. Even my four year old played. As long as your kids know their colors they can play on level one!! He loved it. We also played with 11 year old girls and they also loved it. It didn't look like much when we opened the package but we were pleasantly surprised. The only downside is that you have to be careful not to hit the targets hard or the game shuts off which is a bit of a downer so you have to make sure you lightly touch the targets. The primary game is great for one or more players. You can control the difficulty, too, by limiting or expanding the distance between markers. We have not played the team games as yet, but this is a terrific game, which automatically progresses in difficulty as you play. Keeps you on the move to beat the last score - your own or another player's. Portable, too, which makes it easy to take-along! After reading the positive reviews left by others, I purchased this toy for my 5 year old daughter and 3 1/2 year old son. They have had it for several weeks now and absolutely love it. With four difficulty levels, I'm sure this will be a toy that stays around a while...right now level one or two is about right for us. customer 's review (My son loves it!) (Lots of fun!) (Giggles and Grins) (TOY OF THE YEAR) (My son hates it....) My son loves this toy! He loves to grab the balls as they shoot out of the tube. I'd recommend this for anyone that has an active child that loves to see how things work. My daughter loves this toy. It startled her at first because of the balls popping up but she soon got the hang of it. My older daughters are 7 and 8 and they had as much fun as my 8 month old did. When this toy first came, I had to open it up and try it out to make sure it worked for my toddler. I ended up "trying it out" for an hour. My cat got a kick out of this too, and it's amazing how many facial expressions a cat can have, when they see something just pop out of nowhere. Oh yeah, and my toddler? He totally loves it. The only problems with this toy, are the batteries don't last too long, and creative toddlers may try to put other things down the shoot, like a cat. (Just kidding on the cat) But, mine tried putting various small objects in there, which were too heavy for the fan to push. If you are wondering what toy to buy to be the hit of the party then this is the one for you. Doesn't matter the age, everyone wants to play with it. My grandchildren can't stop playing with this and all their friends, too. I got this toy because of all the great reviews it received here on Amazon. My son absolutely hates this. He cries when he hears the loud music and all the noise. There is no way to turn down the volume. He was also able to take it apart very easily. It's now sitting in the basement. The only thing my son likes about this toy is the balls. He took to them as soon as he saw it and left the main unit alone. Not educational at all... playing "fetch" is not educational. customer 's review (Another winner from Mayfair games) (REALLY fun!) (great game!) (Very disappointed in 4th edition) (Great game - but the dice hate me!) After playing Ticket to Ride multiple tries, we tried Settlers. This is a very unique game that is easy to learn and you can use a variety of strategies each time you play. Great! I played this game for the first time this past weekend, and I was a little hesitant to start at first because it seemed like there were so many rules and details that would be hard to pick up on. However, I ended up having SO much fun playing that I just bought it for my family! There is great interaction between the players, and I loved hearing about each person's strategies at the end of the game. We played with 4 people, and it ended up lasting like 2.5-3 hours, but we were all first time players, and it was totally worth it! This game is really a lot of fun for people who like to think things through while playing. But you can plan as much as you want... in the end there are always some unexpected turns. The great thing about this game is that you can change its pattern every time when you play it. I bought the 3rd edition of Settlers and the expansion for our game group about a year ago. I recently purchased the new versions including Seafarers and Cities&Knights, excited about the artwork and frame pieces, but I was extremely disappointed. Some changes: 1) The new SLAP YOU IN THE FACE blue water pieces' color do not match our original version. This makes it impossible to mix with our older games for our large groups. 2) The new "white" pieces are actually painted white now which I think is an improvement, but now they don't match earlier versions of the game. 3) The hexes are (incredibly) even flimsier than the 3rd edition. They are also coated with a very glossy surface coating that makes it hard to play with light coming in the windows. 4) The snap-together edges seem like an improvement, but since I have one of those awesome wooden boards from eBay, we don't use them. 5) The clay hexes, that used to be clearly red, are now so similar in color to the wheat hexes that it's harder to differentiate between them. 6) Gold, wheat, and even desert look very similar as well, but the cards' backgrounds haven't changed to help you match the resource with the card. With the exception of forest, the new hex artwork actually makes the game harder to play, imo. Catan is still a fantastic game and our game groups' favorite. But I am so disappointed with the new version that I am very seriously considering selling my 4th edition to go back to the easier to play with older versions. That's just a bit of humor. I have to be honest, I love this game. It is very fun, but it takes 1 game for people to truly understand how to play. I still consider it relatively easy to learn though. I like the game, but I have to admit - I feel the dice hate me! Actually, I got rid of the original dice because they were too light for my liking. Anyway, this is a great game to play with a couple friends. I think if you add the expansion and take it to 5-6 players, it becomes a very fun game. This edition with the framing seas (which I don't have) looks like a great addition...
